Design, Review and Support M&E Systems
We assist public entities, government departments and development organisations to design and review monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems, and then provide support for the systems.
An M&E system (or framework) is ‘a series of policies, practices and processes that enable the systematic and effective collection, analysis, summary and use of monitoring and evaluation information’.
Public entities, government departments and development organisations are generally complex organisations that work on different levels to achieve their goals. They run or support different projects or programmes across several provinces, countries or regions. They therefore need systems that enable them to collect, analyse, summarise and use information. We provide guidance or support for those wishing to design M&E systems at project, programme, country, regional and international levels.
The process of designing the system involve the following steps:
- Define the scope and purpose of the M&E system.
- Perform a situational analysis (of existing systems).
- Consult with all relevant stakeholders.
- Identify the key levels (planning, collection, analysis, summary, sharing and use of information).
- Select key focus areas.
- Develop a grid.
- Work out the details.
- Integrate the M&E system horizontally and vertically.
- Roll out the system.
Evaluation and Impact Assessment
We assist companies and development organisations to measure and manage their impact on society and the environment. Through our methodology we:
- Identify and express in financial terms the value an organisation or company creates or reduces for society through its social, economic and environmental efforts.
- Assess how the company or organisation’s societal impact will possibly affect future generations.
- Develop a business case that increases value created for society and, in the process, increases value for shareholders.

Development Organisations
Development organisations are under pressure to demonstrate to funders and governments the impact of their interventions on their target communities. We help them to measure the impact of their projects or programmes or their overall impact as an organisation. The assessments also help them with decision making.
